When questioned regarding the performance Driver K Coppins advised that at this stage of its career the gelding does not possess high gate speed and she had not been able to gain a position in the running line in the early stages so had restrained to the rear. Miss Coppins further advised she had elected to improve round to sit parked when the tempo eased in the middle stages and had received every opportunity.

Junior Driver L Hibell, assisted by S McCaffrey, admitted a charge in that she drove carelessly entering the first turn when contacting the sulky wheel of MIKI MIRAGE resulting in the tyre puncturing. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.

OHOKA ACHILLES - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld to enable Stewards to view the replays of the run home and to question Junior Drivers K Coppins (JACCKA OPA), assisted by R Lawson, and M Ranger (OHOKA ACHILLES), assisted by S Abernethy, in relation to an incident passing the 100m where JACCKA OPA (3rd place) paced roughly when to the inside of OHOKA ACHILLES which shifted inwards so as to ascertain whether there were grounds for a protest. It was established that there was not a full run available for JACCKA OPA to improve prior to OHOKA ACHILLES shifting inwards with Stewards electing not to proceed with the protest. The connections of JACCKA OPA also elected not to proceed with a protest against OHOKA ACHILLES's first placing with placings then being duly authorised. Ms Ranger was issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) on the grounds that she drove carelessly in this incident and indicated that she would be defending the charge. The matter was adjourned until the Waikato BOP Harness meeting to be held on the 10 July 2025.

Authorization of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for a protest with connections of TUGAWAR also electing not to protest when given the opportunity.

BELL FIRE - contacted the sulky wheel of JAHI when laying inwards, becoming awkwardly positioned passing the 400m mark. Was then held up rounding the final turn and during the early stages of the run home. Again became awkwardly placed and contacted the sulky wheel of RUN MASON RUN passing the 75m. Stewards were satisfied that the contact on each occasion were attributable to the racing dynamics at the time and that Driver B Wilkins had not driven carelessly nor contributed to the incidents in any culpable manner. Accordingly, no further action was taken.
